Après avoir été remarquée, en 2008, pendant un concours organisé par la maison d'édition Bjartur à la recherche de nouveaux Lilja Sigurðardóttir is the Icelandic crime fiction author who gave us the compelling "Reykjavik Noir" book trilogy (Snare, Trap, Cage) which put her on the map of the young and promising Nordic crime writers. I enjoyed all three books, though I believe that the first installment (Snare) had a spark that the following two novels lacked. Lilja Sigurðardóttir has an engaging smile and wonderful, infectious laugh with an outgoing personality and intelligence to match. You can’t help but be drawn to her. I noticed that she rolls her r’s ever so slightly when she speaks English, which is perhaps a result of living in Mexico as a child. Icelandic author Lilja Sigurdardottir has been on our radar since Iceland Noir 2014, when she was part of a twilight literary tour around Reykjavik and read from her work in the square outside the Icelandic parliament.At the time we hoped her books would appear in English and now, thanks to Orenda Books and translator/author Quentin Bates, this is finally happening.
